Sandhills Flyers 5K
The 5K trail run begins on the Sandhills Community College campus and winds through Southern Pines Reservoir Park. The course is officially certified by the USATF (Certificate #NC22019BDS). Race timing is provided by Gate City Timing Company.
Registration opens March 24, 2026 and closes September 22, 2026. The registration fee is $30. Participants who register by September 5 are guaranteed a race t-shirt. In-person packet pick-up is available the day before the event at Pace Yourself Run Co. in downtown Southern Pines or on-site at Sandhills Community College on the morning of the race.
Event amenities include a pre-race warm-up, pre- and post-race massages provided by the SCC Therapeutic Massage program, food trucks offering juice, smoothies and coffee, a 360-degree photo booth, and custom cookies. Awards are given to overall and age-group 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers. Fitness and wellness vendors will be present, and the SCC Early Childhood program hosts story-time and activities for children. The event is dog friendly, and Sandhills Flyers volleyball matches take place following the run.
The event is planned to proceed rain or shine. In the case of severe or unsafe weather, the event may be delayed, modified, or canceled; no refunds will be issued for weather-related cancellations.
