Event overview
The Sand & Surf event takes place on August 9, 2026 at Mount Trashmore in Virginia Beach (310 Edwin Dr., Virginia Beach, VA 23462). The event offers both in-person and virtual options. Points earned at this event count toward the Year-Long 5k, 10k and Back of the Pack Series, and toward the Summer Series. Walkers are welcome.

Runners receive a finisher’s medal, a technical (Dri-fit) event shirt, and the event is chip timed. The 10k course has three water stations at about miles 1.55, 3.1 and 4.65; the 5k course has one water station at about mile 1.55. Gatorade will be available at some water stations. Restrooms are available onsite at the park.
Registration fees listed in the event information are $30 for the 5k and $45 for the 10k until July 31, then increase; price increases by $5 on race morning. T-shirts are guaranteed for runners registered before July 29; additional shirts will be available after that on a first-come, first-served basis. Packet pickup is available at the event and race day registration is offered; t-shirt sizes cannot be guaranteed for same-day registrants. Live results will be posted on Athlinks and final results with series points will be posted the Monday after the event.
