San Pasqual Valley Trail Race
The San Pasqual Valley Trail Race takes place in Escondido, California, offering runners a course through the vineyards and orange groves of San Diego County's wine country. The event features three primary distances:
- 20 Mile
- Half Marathon
- 10K
The terrain consists of approximately 75% single track trails. Elevation gains range from 200 feet to 1200 feet depending on the selected distance. The 10K course is relatively flat, following a route through grass fields and groves. In contrast, the Half Marathon and 20 Mile courses are out and back routes that include two summits of Raptor Ridge. This section of the course features various switchbacks and provides views of the surrounding valley.
The event is held at the San Pasqual Staging Lot on Bandy Canyon Road. Participation is limited to 450 runners. The Half Marathon serves as the final championship qualifier for the race series. Participants can find parking at the trailhead lot, with overflow parking available within walking distance. A finish line area provides a wine tasting featuring local vineyards.
