Event Details
The San Felipe Shootout is a unique trail run event where participants can choose to run one, two, or all three distances. The "Triple Challenge" involves completing the 5k, 10k, and half marathon back-to-back on the same day for a total of 22.4 miles. Start times are staggered, so runners must begin each race at its designated time. The event takes place at Stephen F. Austin State Park, located west of Houston/Katy.
Course Information
All events start and finish at the park's group dining hall. The trails are described as easy, primarily consisting of single-track on soft ground, pine needles, some gravel, or soft clay. There is little to no elevation gain, with only a few small hills. The trails can become very sticky when wet.
On-Site Facilities
The start/finish area has a large grass space where runners can set up personal aid stations with chairs, tents, or coolers. A single, fully stocked aid station is located at the start/finish, providing water, sports drinks, soda, snacks, and sandwiches. A BBQ food truck is also scheduled to be on-site.
Additional Activities
A free, non-timed Kids K for children 12 and under is held after the half marathon start. Parents are welcome to join their children on the course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
