Samson Stomp
Samson Stomp takes place at the Milwaukee County Zoo on January 17, 2027. The event honors Samson, the Zoo’s silverback gorilla (1950–1981), and raises money to support the animals in the Zoo’s population. Entry fees include a long-sleeved T shirt, Zoo admission, a beverage, a snack, and parking.
All races occur on public walkways throughout the Zoo. The 5K race is officially timed and results will be publicly available in person and online after the race. Races proceed rain or shine, snow or cold, but the Zoo may cancel for severe weather or dangerous conditions; no refunds will be given. For safety, strollers, in-line skates, and similar devices are not permitted.
Participants can donate used handheld electronics at the Zoo for recycling. Drop-off is located in the Zoo’s U.S. Bank Gathering Place. Recycling handheld electronics aims to reduce demand for coltan, a mineral linked to loss of habitat for lowland gorillas in Congo.
