The Saltmarsh Half Marathon
The event on 19 April 2026 follows the Saltmarsh Coast trail along the River Crouch from South Woodham Ferrers to Riverside Park, Burnham-on-Crouch. The route is a half marathon, mostly off road, and is open to runners and walkers with a cut off time of 4.5 hours.
The course will be fully marked and may measure slightly long, approximately half a mile extra, due to a landowner access change since 2019. Organisers will issue a .gpx file once the final course is agreed. There are full aid stations at 5 miles and 9 miles stocked with a variety of snacks such as jelly babies, flapjacks, fruit, nuts and products from partners Tribe and Chia Charge. Squash and flat coke will be available for filling flasks and reusable cups.
The event operates a cupless policy to reduce plastic waste. Participants may use their own flask, cup or bladder; reusable cups are offered for purchase during registration and will also be available on race day. A bag-transfer bus will move bags from the start to the finish. Parking is free at the start at Marsh Farm Country Park with cars left at owners risk, and there are car parks near the Riverside Park finish; organisers ask for responsible parking.
The event is organised by Hare & Tortoise Running, is UKA affiliated and holds a Trail Running Association race permit. Entry fee listed at GBP 30.50. T-shirt sizes cannot be guaranteed for entries made less than one month before the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
