Salt Cellar Fell Race 2026
Salt Cellar Fell Race is an open, FRA-registered fell race organised by Steel City Striders on 7 August 2026, based at Fairholmes Visitor Centre near Upper Derwent Reservoir in the Peak District. The course is 10.9 km (7.1 miles) with 486 m (1535 ft) of ascent and is classified as Category BM. The route starts and finishes under the dam wall at Upper Derwent Reservoir with registration at Fairholmes Car Park (SK173893).
The race heads up onto Derwent Edge and descends from Salt Cellar Boulder. Marshals will be positioned at key points and turns without a marshal will be flagged. Competitors are advised to bring full FRA required kit in case of bad weather even though additional kit has not been required in recent years.
Parking is available at Fairholmes car park and in lay-bys along the access road; charges may apply. Some post-race food for competitors is included in the entry fee. Race entry is limited to 250 participants; the minimum age is 18. Entry fees are shown as UKA member £10.00 and non member £12.00.
All profit after expenses will be donated to Edale Mountain Rescue and to the National Trust. The event is permitted and insured through the Fell Runners Association. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
