Course Details
The Holme Moss Fell Race is a 28.5 km (17.8 mi) long fell run with 1,285 m (4,215 ft) of ascent. It is a category AL fell race set on Pennine moorland on the edge of the Peak District.
Requirements & Safety
This race is described as suitable only for experienced fell runners and is not recommended as a first fell race. Navigational skills are essential, as the route may not be fully flagged and crosses remote areas. The Fell Runners Association (FRA) safety rules apply. Runners must be capable of completing the course within 5 hours 30 minutes, with several cut-off points during the race.
A mandatory kit check will be conducted. Required kit includes full waterproof body cover with a hood, hat, gloves, a map, a compass, a whistle, emergency food, and a cup or water supply. GPS use for navigation is prohibited by FRA rules.
Event Information
The race start is located about half a mile from the race headquarters and finish at Cartworth Moor Cricket Club. Entries are capped at 200 participants, with a minimum age of 18. Entry fees are lower for FRA members. On-the-day entries may be available. Participants receive a race memento, post-race food, and live tracking during the event.
Prizes are awarded to the first 10 men, first 5 women, veterans in 5-year age categories, and teams.
