Event details
The Holme Moss Fell Race takes place on 26 July 2026 with race HQ and finish at Cartworth Moor Cricket Club, Holmfirth (HD9 2TU). The course is 28.5 km (17.8 miles) with 1,285 m (4,215 ft) of ascent. It is an FRA category AL fell race with an entry limit of 200 and a minimum age of 18. Advance entry fees listed are £14 for FRA members and £16 for non-members, with higher on-the-day fees noted. Entries close on Wednesday 22 July 2025. The official start is about half a mile from the race venue.
Route and safety
The route runs across Pennine moorland and includes steep trackless moor, rocky climbs, river crossings and remote sections. Checkpoints on the course include Holme Moss, Tooleyshaw Moor, Crowden, Bareholme, Laddow Rocks and Black Hill, with a reverse return to Holme Moss before the finish. The event is organised under Fell Runners Association rules and Holme Valley Mountain Rescue Team provides safety cover.
Navigation skills are required; GPS navigation is prohibited. Minimum kit must be carried including waterproof full-body cover with hood and taped seams, hat, gloves, a suitable map, a compass, whistle, emergency food and a cup or personal water supply (about 500 ml recommended).
