Sage Lake Firecracker 5K
The 13th annual Sage Lake Firecracker 5K takes place on July 4, 2026 in Hale, Michigan, at the intersection of Kenyon and Maple roads adjacent to Kenyon's Lakeside Resort.
Event options include:
- 5K: Firecracker 5K run or walk
- 0.5 Miles: Half mile kids Sparkler Sprint for ages 10 and younger
- Zero K: Nonrunning option supporting lake projects
The 5K follows a loop route that goes up Kenyon Drive, onto Sage Lake Road, through the Sunset/Hawthorne neighborhood loop along the lake, and back to the start via Sage Lake Road and Kenyon Drive. Water stations are available along the route.
Registration opens March 30, 2026. Registration deadlines differ by option: the 5K and the kids sprint close June 1, 2026, while the Zero K option closes July 2, 2026. Fees listed by the organizer are $35 for the 5K, $15 for the kids sprint, and $35 for the Zero K.
Participant items vary by option. Kids in the Sparkler Sprint receive a youth shirt, race bib, and a medal. Firecracker 5K registrants receive a T shirt, race bib, and a finisher gift. Zero K registrants receive a T shirt while supplies last. Shirts and bibs are available for pick up the day before the event at the SLA Store adjacent to Kenyon's Lakeside Resort and on race day, though sizes may not be guaranteed.
