Sage Lake Firecracker 5K - event summary
The event is the 12th annual Sage Lake Firecracker gathering at the intersection of Kenyon and Maple roads (Kenyon's Lakeside Resort) in Hale, MI 48739. It offers multiple participation options and community-focused fundraising for lake projects.
Distances available:
- 5K open to participants ages 13 and older.
- 5K (Kids) for participants 12 and younger.
- 0.5 miles Sparkler Sprint for children 10 and younger.
The 5K course is a loop that travels up Kenyon Drive, onto Sage Lake Road, through the Sunset/Hawthorne neighborhood along the lake, then returns via Sage Lake Road and Kenyon Drive to the start. Water stations are placed along the route. The Sparkler Sprint follows Maple Road to a turnaround station and returns to its start.
Registration opens March 30, 2026, and closes July 1, 2026. Fees differ by option: $30 for the adult 5K option, $25 for the kids 5K, $15 for the half-mile sprint, and $25 for the Zero K option. 5K registrants receive a T-shirt, race bib, and a medal. Sparkler Sprint participants receive a youth tank top, race bib, and a medal. The Zero K option provides a T-shirt while supplies last.
Shirts and bibs are available for pick-up Friday, July 4, 4-7 p.m., at race headquarters (pole barn at 688 Second Ave) and also on event day, though sizes may not be guaranteed.
