38th Annual Rye YMCA Derby
The Rye Derby YMCA 5K & 5M is a community running event held in Rye, New York. The event serves as a fundraiser for the Y Cares Financial Assistance Program, which supports local access to YMCA activities. The races take place on paved streets that remain open to traffic, though police and volunteers are stationed throughout the course for guidance.
Available distances include:
- 5 Mile Race for runners aged 14 and older.
- 5K Run/Walk with timed and untimed options.
- 1 Mile Family Fun Run/Walk for all ages.
The 5M and 5K courses are primarily flat with several inclines and include three water stations. The 1 Mile course is also mostly flat but features one steep incline at the midway point. Participants who register by April 5 receive a personalized race bib. T-shirts are provided to registrants while supplies last, and participants in the 1 Mile event receive finisher ribbons.
The event includes a Team Challenge for groups of at least five members, with awards for the fastest team, most participants, and most creative attire. Overall top finishers in the 5M race are eligible for cash prizes. Amenities at the site include complimentary food and festivities for families.
