Ryan Lambert Memorial 5K
The Ryan Lambert Memorial 5K is a fundraising road event held in Bowers Beach, Delaware, benefiting the Ryan Lambert Memorial Foundation and supporting Vietnam veteran programs in Delaware and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. The event offers a 5K run and a separate 5K competitive walk, plus a free kids 100 m dash for children 8 and under.
The course is a flat, fast out and back of approximately 3.11 miles on public roads. Chip timing is used with ChronoTrack equipment and race bibs are required to be worn on the front. Pre-registered participants receive short sleeve cotton blend race shirts and post-race refreshments and music are provided.
Awards are given for overall male and female, master male and female, and age-group top three finishers in ten-year divisions from 9 and under through 70 and over. Walk awards recognize the top three male and female walkers. Participants must follow the marked course and directions from police and volunteers; nonregistered participants on the course and bicycles riding alongside runners are not allowed. Headphones in both ears are discouraged; if used, they should be low volume and in one ear.
Parking is at Clifton Cubbage Drive in Bowers Beach with volunteers directing vehicles. The event is organized by a memorial committee in cooperation with a local running club. Refunds are not offered, with options to transfer, donate, or defer entries. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
