RVA Mile (aka Regency Mile)
The RVA Mile is a long-standing running event held in Henrico, Virginia. The race takes place on a course that is entirely closed to traffic and encircles Regency Square Mall. This event caters to a wide range of ages through various distance options and formatted heats.
The competition is organized into specific waves based on age and gender to maintain a balanced environment for all participants. Runners are assigned to these heats during the registration process. Both in-person and virtual participation options are available.
The event features several distinct categories:
- Youth & Adult Mile: Open to participants aged 10 and older.
- Youth Mile: Specifically for children aged 9 and under.
- 400m Express Run: A shorter distance designed for children aged 5 and under.
Beyond the races, the event includes a Fall Family Festival featuring games, candy, and various activities provided by community partners. The race also hosts a school competition where local schools compete for prizes based on participant numbers. These funds are used to support physical education programs in the local community. The proceeds from the event benefit the Live Red Foundation, which provides fitness programs for youth in the Richmond area. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
