Run/Walk for NM Libraries
The Run/Walk for NM Libraries is a community fundraising event held on Saturday, April 25, 2026, during National Library Week. Participants may walk or run at organized sites across New Mexico or take part on their own from any location.
Organized meeting locations include Farmington at Orchard Park, Las Vegas at the Gallinas River Park gate by Prince Street and Farmway Feed Mills, Hatch at the Hatch Village Public Library, Carlsbad at the Project Playground and Recreation Center, Capitan at the Historical Marker on Highway 48 near Tiger Drive, and a site in Las Cruces. The event features a 5K Run/Walk option.
Participants move at their own pace; there are no timed results or declared winners. All funds raised through the event are allocated directly to libraries and librarians in New Mexico as Development, STEM, and Professional Development Grants. Free t-shirts are provided thanks to sponsorship from Portable Micrographics, Thrivent, REFORMA de Nuevo Mexico, The Dean Foundation, The JSA Foundation, and Friends of NMLF.
The event is presented as a way to combine physical activity with support for local libraries and library services across the state. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
