Festive Pines 5K
Festive Pines 5K is a holiday-themed running event held at Walnut Ridge Tree Farm in Indianola, IA. The event includes two distances:
- 5K
- 1K (Pine K 1K Walk/Run)
The course winds through pine tree acreage and uses different pine groves for each distance. Shortly after the start, 1K participants split off and turn left around a pine tree field while 5K participants continue toward the northern pine groves. Spectators and families can attend the event area and enjoy on-site refreshments.
A portion of event proceeds and any donations will be given to Helping Hand in Indianola, which provides food, clothing, household items, personal care products, and other basic needs.
Packet pickup is available the day before at Fitness Sports - Clive (8810 Swanson Blvd, Clive, IA 50325) and on race day at Walnut Ridge Farm. Post-race activities take place in the barn and include indoor and outdoor photo opportunities with Santa, coffee and cocoa donated by Crimson Anchor Coffee Roasters, cookies donated by Hy-Vee, and pre- and post-race therapy and stretching provided by Select Physical Therapy.
All participants receive a race-branded stocking cap for the 5K or an ear warmer for the 1K, plus a handmade Christmas ornament. Shirts and finisher ornaments are guaranteed for registrations completed by December 1. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
