Event overview
Running with the Herd 5k is scheduled for Saturday, February 21, 2026, in The Villages, Florida (251 Buffalo Trail, The Villages, FL 32162). The event program includes a main 5k race, a 100-meter kids race called the Stampede Sprint, and the Herd Hurdle Havoc Obstacle Course. The Stampede Sprint is open to ages 3 to 10; the obstacle course is for ages 3 to 12. The 5k offers overall awards for men and women and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards in each age group.
Registration, fees and race extras
The 5k registration fee increases after December 31, 2025, from $25 to $35. Age-based discounts apply for ages 3 to 17 during specified registration periods. The Stampede Sprint fee is listed at $2 and the Herd Hurdle Havoc fee at $5. Packet pickup is available on Friday, February 20 at The Villages Charter Middle School Buffalo Ridge Campus and also on race morning. Registration may also be completed at packet pickup; acceptable payment methods include cash and credit card, and cash payments should be the exact amount. Participants in the Stampede Sprint and the obstacle course receive a plastic participation medal. 5k registrants who register before February 1, 2026 will receive a t-shirt; those who complete the 5k receive a 2026 finisher medal.
