Running With The Devil
Running With The Devil is a multi-distance running festival held on Lovell Canyon Road at Highway 160 in the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area, Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest. The course is fully paved and follows rolling canyon roads beginning at roughly 4,500 feet elevation. Vegetation along the route includes Joshua trees, pinyon-juniper, mountain rose, and sagebrush.
The event offers multiple distances:
- 5K
- 10K
- 1/2 Marathon
- Marathon
- 50K
The 5K and 10K are offered twice on the same course, once in the morning and once at noon, which allows runners the option to run back-to-back events. Expected daytime temperatures can be high; the venue typically runs about 10 degrees cooler than the Las Vegas Valley but daytime highs near 95–100°F are noted. On-course provisions include water and Gatorade at all aid stations, with some "ultra" stations providing ice, cold towels, basic first aid, and energy gels. Marathon and 50K entrants are required to carry a personal hydration system with at least 24 ounces of water. The 50K has an optional drop bag at a designated homebase aid station.
All finishers receive a medal. Parking is available near the start/finish location and primitive camping is permitted at the venue; camping facilities are limited. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
