Running With The Devil
Running With The Devil is held on Lovell Canyon Road in Nevada and offers multiple paved road race distances. Distances available include:
- 50K
- Marathon
- Half Marathon
- 10K
- 5K
The course follows paved Lovell Canyon Road through rolling terrain and twisting canyon turns. Lovell Canyon Road is about 11 miles in length; marathon and 50K runners share the first 26.2 miles, with the 50K including additional out-and-back segments and a designated drop bag location at mile 26.2. The event starts at roughly 4,500 feet elevation and reaches near 5,900 feet, with total climbing varying by distance.
The setting transitions through Mojave Desert vegetation such as Joshua trees, pinion-juniper, mountain rose, and sagebrush, and passes areas of the Toiyabe National Forest. Weather is an important factor: daytime highs are typically around 95 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with overnight lows near 75. On-course provisions and aid stations provide water and Gatorade in cups and may refill bottles.
All marathon and 50K runners are required to carry a hydration system with a minimum of 24 ounces of water. Ultra aid stations include first aid, ice, cold towels, energy gel, and additional provisions. No pacers are allowed. Time limits are published per distance and all finishers receive a medal; awards are given for overall and age group placings. Parking is available at or near the start area and primitive camping is available at the venue. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
