Rural Road Racing in Bucyrus
Running With The Cows is an annual school fundraiser held in Bucyrus, Kansas, located approximately 30 minutes south of Kansas City. The event starts and finishes at Holy Rosary Wea School and takes participants through miles of rural countryside. The course is characterized by its rolling hills and a bucolic landscape.
The event offers several individual race distances to accommodate different age groups:
- Half Marathon
- 5K
- Virtual Half Marathon
- Virtual 5K
- Kids Fun Run 5K (for ages 12 and under)
The course is fully supported with volunteers stationed along the route. Participants in the Half Marathon can utilize official pacers provided by Runners Edge to assist with their timing goals. All in-person participants in the 5K and Half Marathon receive a race shirt and a bib with a timing chip. Awards are presented for top overall finishers, masters categories, and various age groups.
Post-race festivities are held at the finish line, featuring a food selection that includes allergy-friendly options. The virtual events allow runners to complete their chosen distance at any location, with medals and shirts mailed out following the race weekend. Packet pickup is scheduled on the Thursday and Friday prior to the event at a location in Overland Park, with race-morning pickup available at the school.
