Running of the Turkeys - York
The 17th annual Running of the Turkeys takes place in downtown York on November 26, 2026. The event is hosted by First Presbyterian and Trinity United Methodist churches at 22 East Liberty Street and centers on a community 5K activity. The distance offered is 5K for run, walk, and stroller participants.
The event was founded in 2010 by local runners and church members to bring a family friendly Thanksgiving run to York’s historic downtown and to create an opportunity to support local charities. Proceeds and donations are distributed to People Attempting to Help (PATH), the Grace and Mercy Soup Kitchen of Wesley United Methodist Church, and the YSD1 Education Foundation.
Runners may drop off nonperishable food items for PATH during packet pick up on Wednesday, November 25, or on the morning of the event. PATH operates a food pantry and thrift store and provides emergency aid for utilities and other needs; the organization was started in 1982 by the Western York County Christian Ministers Association and has served York and surrounding areas for 25 years.
Registration opens September 2, 2026 and closes November 1, 2026, with a registration fee of $30.00. Shirts are only guaranteed for registrations completed by NOVEMBER 1 due to inventory and shipping timelines. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
