Event Overview
The Running of the Turkeys is a traditional Thanksgiving morning event held in Arlington, Vermont. The races take place at Fisher Elementary School and serve as a fundraiser, with all proceeds benefiting the Battenkill Valley Runners (BKVR) Scholarship Fund. Participants can choose between different formats:
- 3.1 Miles (5K) Running Race
- 3.1 Miles (5K) Walk
- 1 Mile Kids Fun Run
Course Details
The route offers a scenic tour of southwestern Vermont. The terrain includes elevation changes, featuring multiple hills throughout the course. While the primary event is a run, walkers are officially welcome to participate in the 3.1 Miles distance.
Recognition and Amenities
Awards are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers. Additionally, winners are recognized in 10-year age groups, while participants aged 60 and above are categorized into 5-year age groups. The walking category also includes awards for the top three male and female finishers.
The first 200 entrants registered for the 5K run or walk are guaranteed commemorative turkey-themed items. Participants also have the opportunity to share race photos for a chance to receive vintage event merchandise.
