Event Overview
Running of the Lights is a New Year's Day event at midnight on January 1, 2027. The route takes place through the Tanglewood Festival of Lights in Tanglewood Park, Clemmons, North Carolina. The course is normally only open to vehicles, but for this event, participants can run or walk on foot through the light displays.
Distances and Registration
Participants can choose between two main distances, with both "regular" and "economy" price tiers for each. A virtual option is also available.
- 5K Run/Walk: An approximately 5-kilometer course.
- 1.75 Mile Fun Run/Walk: A shorter course.
Event Experience
Before the start, a celebratory toast is held and the New Year's Eve ball drop from Times Square in New York City is streamed live at the start line. After finishing, participants can have hot chocolate and snacks.
