Event Overview
The Running of the Leprechauns is an annual sports event held at the Oden Brewing Company in Greensboro, North Carolina. The course travels through the UNCG campus before returning to the brewery for post-event activities. This event is part of The Race Series, and participants in the timed distance earn points for their participation.
Participants can choose from several event formats:
- 5K Run/Walk (3.1 miles)
- Leprechaun Stroll (untimed walk, less than 1 mile)
- Leprechaun Dash (untimed short course for children aged 8 and under)
The marathon is a family-friendly and pet-friendly occasion that also accommodates strollers. Beyond the physical activity, the event includes a costume contest where judges select the best dressed leprechaun for a prize based on attire. Registration for the costume contest takes place on the morning of the event.
Registered participants receive a commemorative short-sleeved blend shirt while supplies last, a special finisher’s gift, and one craft beer for those aged 21 and over. An awards ceremony is held at Oden Brewing Company following the completion of the races. The 5K portion of the event is officially chip-timed for accurate results.
