15th Annual Running of the Blueberries
The Running of the Blueberries takes place in Nacogdoches, Texas, as part of the annual Texas Blueberry Festival. This event utilizes the Pecan Acres Park Pavilion as the central hub for the start and finish lines. The courses primarily follow the Lanana Creek Trail, offering routes through scenic natural areas. Available distances include:
- 1 Mile family run
- 5K run
- 10K run
The 10K and 5K routes consist of a variety of surfaces, including paved paths, unpaved trails, street segments, and parking lots. These courses also feature a specific section with stairs to cross a bridge. Due to the stairs and uneven trail surfaces, strollers are not recommended. Participation is limited to 350 registrants for the combined 5K and 10K events, while the 1 Mile is limited to 100 participants.
The 1 Mile event is held entirely within Pecan Park. This path includes gravel trails, unpaved sections, uneven grass, and portions of the creek trail. Dogs are permitted to participate in the event.
Registered participants receive a performance-style t-shirt, with youth sizes available for those who register by certain deadlines. Awards are presented for overall winners and across various age groups for the 5K and 10K distances. Packet pickup is organized at the CL Simon Recreation Center on the day prior to the event, as well as on-site on the morning of the races.
