Bayou Bend Fitness Center Running of the Bears 2026
The Bayou Bend Fitness Center Running of the Bears takes place in historic downtown Franklin, Louisiana. This athletic event serves as the kickoff for the Bayou Teche Black Bear Festival. Participants navigate a course that passes through the local area, featuring views of traditional lamp posts, live oak trees, and antebellum homes situated alongside the Bayou Teche.
Participants can choose from several event formats:
- 5K Run/Walk (3.1 miles)
- 5K Ruck (3.1 miles)
- 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk
The course is located at the Franklin Pocket Park on Main Street. The event provides specific recognition for various age groups and categories. For the 5K Run/Walk, awards are presented to the overall top male and female finishers, as well as first, second, and third place finishers in age brackets ranging from 19 and under up to 50 and over.
The 5K Ruck division recognizes the first and second place male and female finishers. For the 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk, awards are designated for the overall winners and specific youth categories for ages 8 and under and 9 to 12.
