Running of the Bears - Franklin
Running of the Bears takes place in Historic Downtown Franklin, Louisiana on April 25, 2026. The event is based at Franklin Pocket Park, 718 Main Street, Franklin, LA 70538, and is part of the Bayou Teche Black Bear Festival. The route passes downtown features such as lamp posts, live oaks, antebellum homes, and areas near Bayou Teche where local wildlife may be seen.

Registration opens March 24, 2026 and closes April 23, 2026. The registration fee for the 5K run/walk and the 5K ruck is $30.00; the 1-mile fun run/walk fee is $20.00.
Awards and recognition are planned for multiple divisions. Kids age 10 and under receive a participation medal.
