Running of the Bears - Franklin
The Running of the Bears event is part of the Bayou Teche Black Bear Festival in downtown Franklin, Louisiana. It takes place on April 25, 2026, at Franklin Pocket Park, 718 Main Street, Franklin, LA 70538.
Distances offered include:
- 3.1 miles (5K Run/Walk and 5K Ruck)
- 1 mile (1-Mile Fun Run/Walk)
Registration opens 3/24/2026 and closes 4/23/2026. Registration fees stated for the events are $25.00 for each 5K event and $15.00 for the 1-mile fun run/walk.
Awards and recognition are specified for each event. The 5K Run/Walk lists overall winners for male and female and age-group awards by the following brackets: Age 19 and under; Age 20–29; Age 30–39; Age 40–49; Age 50 and over. The 5K Ruck includes awards for the ruck division with first and second place recognition.
The 1-mile fun run/walk includes overall male and female winners and age-group awards for Age 8 and under and Age 9–12. Children aged 10 and under receive a participation medal.
