Event overview
The Humane Society of Erie County 5K Run/Walk takes place in Sandusky, Ohio on Saturday, April 4, 2026. The event is a chip-timed road race covering 5K. The listed entry fee is $30 and the price increases after March 25, 2026. Proceeds support the Humane Society of Erie County. A t-shirt is included for registrations made before the stated shirt deadline. Well behaved dogs on a short leash are allowed. Raffles, a 50/50 drawing, a limited breakfast menu and a beer release are held at the brewery during the event. Each participant receives a fountain beverage or a draft beer. The event will take place rain or shine and no refunds are offered.
Course and logistics
The start and finish are at Baithouse Brewery, 223 Meigs Street, downtown Sandusky. The 5K uses city streets and the Sandusky Bay Pathway; streets are not closed for the event, so participants are guided onto the pathway to avoid running in traffic. The course was adjusted to route around active construction downtown. The 200 block of Meigs Street will be closed prior to the event; nearby parking options noted include the Sandusky Justice Center, the lot near the tennis courts, the Erie County Senior Center and adjacent neighborhood parking. Day-of registration is available shortly before the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
