Runnin' with the Law

Event Overview
The Runnin' with the Law race series is presented by the Bay City Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 103, Consumers Energy, and Blue Line Liquidations. The event takes place at Finn Road Park & Campground in Essexville, MI, and features runs and walks on a nature trail through Hampton Township. A Public Safety Showcase follows the races, allowing for interaction with local law enforcement and business sponsors. Proceeds benefit the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 103.
Race Distances
Participants can choose from several race distances, each themed with law enforcement terminology:
- Hero Run: A 9.11-mile run.
- Felony Apprehension: A 5-mile run.
- Foot Pursuit: A 5K run.
- Jaywalking: A 5K walk.
- Police Academy: A 1/4-mile run/walk for participants aged 10 and under, which is free.
A virtual race series is also available for those unable to attend on the event day. Virtual participants can complete their chosen distance between September 6 and September 11.
Registration and Details
Registration is encouraged before September 10, 2026, with a higher cost for day-of registration. T-shirts are available for pre-order, with a limited supply on race day. No refunds are provided. Post-race refreshments and snacks are available.
Packet pickup is scheduled for Friday, September 11, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Finn Road Park. Packets can also be picked up on race morning. Camping is available at Finn Road Park for the race weekend; site reservations open on April 1. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
