Runnin' of the Green - Rochester, NY
Runnin' of the Green, presented by the YMCA of Greater Rochester and UR Medicine, is a multi-format community running event held at the Mercantile on Main in downtown Rochester. The centerpiece is a USATF-certified 5-mile out-and-back course along the Genesee River. The event is identified as the 28th edition and offers both in-person and virtual participation.
Other event formats include a ruck option that follows the 5-mile course, a 3-mile walk, and a yoga session held at the Hyatt. Registrants may receive event apparel and awards items while supplies last; the race medal is limited to the first 2000 registrants and shirt size is guaranteed for registrations completed by February 25.
Post-race amenities take place inside the Mercantile and include live music, themed snacks and beverages such as green donuts, apples, cider, and beer, vendor games, photo stations, and a results display. A complementary bag drop is provided for participants, with bags returned after the event. There is no special event parking; nearby options include Mortimer Garage and South Ave Garage and attendees should allow extra time for parking and parade-related street closures.
The event serves as the USATF Niagara 5 Mile Open/Masters Association Championship and distributes $3000 in prize money. Age-group awards are given to the top three finishers in five-year age groups through age 80 and over. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
