Runnin' for Rescues 5K/10K

Runnin' for Rescues is an annual community road race taking place in Boaz on November 21, 2026. The event is administered by the Boaz Parks and Recreation Department and presented by Peoples Independent Bank as the Diamond Sponsor. The races begin and end at the Boaz Recreation Center, 400 Elizabeth Street, Boaz, AL.

The event includes the following distances:

  • 5K Run
  • 10K Run

The race benefits Second Chance Shelter, a nonprofit no-kill dog shelter founded in 2008 that cares for animals in need and houses over 250 dogs at a time. The course is certified and will feature water stations along the route. Finisher medals are awarded at the finish line, and first, second, and third place winners in each age group for both male and female categories will receive prizes during an awards ceremony.

Packet pickup details are to be announced. Registration by October 25, 2026 guarantees a shirt and medal. The event notes that there are no refunds and that it will be held rain or shine. Age groups include 12 and under, 13–19, 20–29, 30–39, 40–49, 50–59, 60–69, and 70 and over. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
