Runnin' for Rescues 5K/10K
The 9th Annual Runnin' for Rescues 5K/10K takes place in November at the Boaz Recreation Center. This event is organized by the Boaz Parks and Recreation Department to support the Second Chance Shelter, a non-profit, no-kill animal facility. The Shelter provides care for over 250 dogs at a time as they await adoption.
Participants can choose from several event options:
- 5K Run (3.1 miles)
- 10K Run (6.2 miles)
- Sleep In Registration
The running routes are certified and take participants through the Boaz area. Water stations are located along the courses to support the participants. Both the 5K and 10K races begin and end at the Boaz Recreation Center located at 400 Elizabeth Street.
Finisher medals are provided at the finish line for those who complete their race. Awards are given to the first, second, and third place finishers in each age category for both male and female participants. Age groups range from 12 and under to 70 and over. Individuals who prefer not to run can select the "Sleep In" option, which includes a race shirt and packet available for pickup at the Recreation Center. The race takes place rain or shine.
