Runaway Pumpkin 5K & Family Fest
The Runaway Pumpkin 5K & Family Fest is a Halloween morning event on October 31, 2026 at the Child Protection Center’s Keith D. Monda Family Campus of Healing in North Port, Florida. Proceeds support the Child Protection Center and its work in child abuse prevention education, medical assessments and trauma informed therapy for survivors.
The event offers multiple running options and a free community festival. Distances include:
- 3.1 miles 5K run or walk
- 100 m Mini Monster Dash
- 3.1 miles virtual 5K
Registration fees vary by entry type, including a no cost option for the Family Fest. Packet pickup is available at a local offsite location prior to race day and at the Child Protection Center on race morning.
The Family Fest runs on site and features kid centered activities such as trick or treating, pumpkin painting, lawn games, sensory and activation stations, giveaways, face painting, inflatables, a kids costume contest with age categories for ages 0 to 2 years, 3 to 5 years, 6 to 8 years, and 9 to 12 years, a puppy pit with therapy dogs, food trucks, and a mini market.
Costume guidelines permit child friendly costumes while prohibiting weapon props and face coverings outside of the contest. The event will also accept non perishable food donations for local families. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
