Runaway Pumpkin 5K & Family Fest : North Port, Florida
The Runaway Pumpkin 5K & Family Fest is a community event on 10/31/2026 at the Child Protection Center’s Family Campus of Healing in North Port, Florida. The event combines in-person and virtual running options with a separate, free family festival. Proceeds support the Child Protection Center (CPC) and its trauma-informed care, forensic services, and child-safe advocacy for families in Sarasota County.

- 100 m Mini Monster Dash : registration fee $20.00
- 3.1 Miles Virtual Runaway Pumpkin 5K : registration fee $40.00
The Family Fest has free admission and features food trucks, trick-or-treating, pumpkin painting, a bounce station, lawn games, a puppy pit with PAWS therapy dogs, a kids' costume contest, and community vendors. Entry to the Family Fest is not contingent on participation in the races.
The event also collects non-perishable food donations to distribute to local families facing food insecurity during the holiday season. Costume guidelines apply for both the races and festival: costumes must be child friendly; weapon props and face coverings are not allowed except briefly for children during the costume contest; clothing with obscene or violent themes, excessive tearing, or excessive skin exposure is not permitted.
