Chiltern Hills 100K
The Chiltern Hills 100K is a 100 km ultra marathon on trails in the Chiltern Hills. The route is an anticlockwise loop that passes landmarks including the Ashridge Estate, Little Gaddesden, Ivinghoe Beacon to Aldbury on The Ridgeway, Tring Park, Wendover, Coombe Hill, Whiteleaf Hill, Bledlow Ridge, Great Hampden and Great Missenden before returning to Chesham.
The event base is Chesham Guides Headquarters in Lowndes Park, Chesham. The course distance and elevation are 100K and 1800m+, with a time allowance of 19 hours. The race is limited to 250 runners and entry is open to those aged 20 and over. It is a UTMB World Series index race and is licensed by the Trail Running Association and held under UKA rules.
The route is fully marked with orange arrows and ribbons. Open GPS tracking is provided and runners must carry GPS navigation plus a printed map supplied at registration. There are six checkpoints at set kilometre points, including Hastoe Village Hall, Little Gaddesden, Whiteleaf Hill, Bledlow Ridge Village Hall and Little Hampden. All checkpoints provide water, cola, Precision Fuel & Hydration products, snacks, pre-made sandwiches, fresh fruit and some hot drinks at specific locations. A drop bag service is available at Hastoe.
Runners must carry mandatory kit such as a mobile phone, GPX route, refillable hydration (minimum 0.5 L), waterproof or windproof jacket, extra layers, head torch with spare battery, warm hat and gloves, reusable cup, basic first aid supplies, cash or card and race nutrition. Included with entry are a finishers medal and t-shirt, GPS tracking, chip timing with live results, medical support, marshalled route, and event photos.
