About the race
Run With Kenyans 5k and 1 Mile Fun Walk takes place in Des Moines at Des Moines Water Works Park on June 21, 2026. The event is presented as part of the Gotabgaa International Conference 2026 and is scheduled during Juneteenth weekend.
The program includes multiple race distances and relay events:
- 5K run
- 1 mile fun run/walk
- Fun 4 × 400 m relay, teams of 4, each runner 400 m
- Fun 8 × 200 m presidential mixed relay, teams of 8, four females and four males, each runner 200 m
Proceeds from the event will benefit the local community through GotabIowaa, supporting youth empowerment, mental health awareness, and physical activity initiatives. Entry fees listed for the main races are $30.00 for the 5K and $15.00 for the 1 mile fun run/walk.
