Run Through the Pines at Lake Gregory, Crestline, CA
The Run Through the Pines is a destination community run hosted by the Rim of the World Recreation and Park District at Lake Gregory in Crestline. The event features an open course 10K and 5K run or walk that loops around the lake and passes through a pine tree forest. The course is semi-paved and sits at approximately 4,720 foot elevation.
Race day staging is at the San Moritz Lodge meadow area near the Lake Gregory Company bait and tackle shop. The event permits children in strollers, leashed pets, and group or team entries. Timing is provided with RFID chip technology. Finishers receive medals and awards are given overall and by expanded age divisions in five-year spans from 10 and under through 80 plus.
Additional event features include free parking provided by the Lake Gregory Company, added restrooms and port-a-potties, music or DJ, and water stations along the course. The run is described as one of the longest running races in Southern California, with the first edition held in 1979.
