About the race
The Gold Coast Twilight Relay is a team relay event held at Broadwater Parklands in Southport, Queensland, using Fisherman's Lawn as the start and exchange area at the northern end of the parklands. The event follows a flat, fast course that runs south through a wetlands area, returns along the footpath past the Fish Shak and the Gold Coast Highway, climbs briefly over the buildings, then drops back to sea level and runs clockwise around Fisherman's Lawn for exchanges or the lap finish.
Teams complete laps on a looped course. Distances offered include:
- 4 x 5 km relay for most divisions
- 4 x 2.5 km relay for the Schools Mixed event
Divisions listed are Open Female, Open Male, Open Mixed (teams must include at least two classifications and no more than two representatives from any listed gender classification to be eligible for podium awards), Junior Mixed (4 x 5 km with intended older school aged athletes), and Schools Mixed (4 x 2.5 km). Mixed teams of other denominations may participate but are ineligible for podium awards.
The event program includes prizes and giveaways, food and beverages, and live music. The course map and route are provided by the organiser and the layout continues the same route used in previous years while relocating the start/finish to the northern parklands area.
