Event Overview
The Trailbreaker is an established running event held in Waukesha, Wisconsin, with a history dating back to 1993. The event takes place at the Schuetze Recreation Center and utilizes local trails and city paths. It serves as a fundraiser for the Park Foundation of Waukesha, supporting the development and maintenance of city parks, recreation programs, and the urban forest.
Course Options
Participants can choose from a wide variety of distances and formats:
- Marathon: A 26.2-mile running race.
- The RAD (Run Any Distance): A 20-mile untimed distance designed for long-run training with full course support.
- Half Marathon: A 13.1-mile race available for both runners and rucking participants.
- 10K: A 6.2-mile course available for both runners and rucking participants.
- 5K: A 3.1-mile course available for both runners and rucking participants.
- Walk: A 1.85-mile non-competitive walking event.
- Kiddos 1K: A short-distance race specifically for children.
Rucking
New for 2026, the event includes dedicated rucking categories for the 5K, 10K, and Half Marathon distances. This activity involves walking or hiking while carrying a weighted backpack or rucksack, inspired by military training methods.
Amenities and Support
All participants receive timing services (except for specific non-competitive categories), course support, and snacks. The RAD participants receive the same perks and swag as other distances but are not eligible for age-group awards.
