TVC5K Run The Runway - Traverse City
The TVC5K Run The Runway is a 3.1 mile charity run held on the closed north-south runway at Cherry Capital Airport in Traverse City, Michigan. The event benefits Wings of Mercy West Michigan, an organization that provides free flights to distant medical destinations. Since 1991 volunteer pilots have donated over 8,000 flights, and the organization has served hundreds of patients from Traverse City and Northern Michigan.
The event site offers close access to aircraft and emergency equipment, including a North Flight AeroMed helicopter, a Cessna 172, a floatplane from the Northwest Michigan College Aviation department, fire and rescue vehicles, a Women in Aviation booth, and a Civil Air Patrol presence. The US Coast Guard base adjacent to the ramp will have a UH60 Jayhawk helicopter on display.
Because the race is on an active airport SIDA location, all persons are subject to inspection. Strollers are allowed. Packet pick-up is available at Fleet Feet (300 East Front St, Traverse City) on the Friday before the event and also at the race-day tent.
