Born to be Wild - event overview
Born to Be Wild takes place on December 12, 2026 at McGuffey Nature Center located at the Coweta County Fairgrounds in Newnan, Georgia. The event is organized by Sole Roots Racing in partnership with Coweta County and the Southern Conservation Trust. It serves as a fundraiser for conservation advocacy, land conservation, and wildlife protection in the local community.

The 5K and 10K courses are a hybrid of approximately 75% road and 25% trail pathway. The trail surface is described as suitable for all abilities; strollers must be running strollers to use the trail sections.
Registration opens on 8/21/2026. Registration deadlines differ by event; the 5K and 10K close on 10/25/2026 and the Fun Run remains open through the event date. Entry fees listed by the organizer are $20 for the Fun Run, $35 for the 5K, and $45 for the 10K. Participants who register by 11/21/2026 are guaranteed an event T-shirt.
The event includes awards for overall male and female finishers and first through third places in age groups 10 and under; 11-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; 70+; plus Masters 40+. Registered children may choose either a Flint the otter plush or an event T-shirt. The event features the mascot Flint the River Otter near the finish area.
