Event Overview
Run the Quay is a running event held in Downtown Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina. The event is produced by the Fuquay-Varina Chamber of Commerce as its largest annual fundraiser.
Distances and Start Times
The event offers multiple race distances on the same day:
- 10K
- 5K
- 15 Quay Challenge (combination of the 5K and 10K)
- Twinkle Dash: A children's fun run for kids ages 10 and under, with distances of 50 yards and 100 yards.
The 10K race starts first, followed by the 5K. The children's Twinkle Dash is presented by WakeMed Children's. The 15 Quay Challenge is only available for in-person participants; virtual participants are not eligible for its finisher medal.
Registration and Fees
Registration prices vary based on the date of sign-up. Early bird pricing is available from January 1-7. Prices increase on January 8, and again on May 7. Registration for all races closes the day before the event. There is no race day registration. The children's Twinkle Dash costs $10 per child, with all proceeds donated to WakeMed Children's.
Virtual Option
A virtual race option is available for the 5K and 10K distances. The virtual race period runs for several days before and after the live event. Virtual race times are not eligible for time-based awards. Participants can use a mobile app to track and submit their run, or manually submit a time via the race results page.
Participant Information
Packet pickup is available the day before the race at a specified church location. Race day check-in is available for those who did not pick up their packets in advance. According to Fuquay-Varina Town Code, animals are prohibited at the event on the course and in the vendor village area. Race shirts and finisher medals are included for both live and virtual participants if registration is completed before announced cutoff dates.
