Run the Keweenaw 2027
Run the Keweenaw is a multi-race trail weekend in Copper Harbor and Eagle Harbor on Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula. The event program includes several distances across local singletrack, two-track, dirt, sand, and road surfaces.
Distances and main events:
- 2 km Junior Trail Run for youth.
- 6 km Mt. Baldy Hillclimb point to peak, starts in Eagle Harbor.
- 10 km Copper Harbor Trails Challenge on singletrack with harbor views.
- 10 km Copper Harbor Trails Non-Competitive Run/Hike.
- 25 km Carl Olson Memorial Adventure Run on Brockway Mountain and below Keweenaw Mountain Lodge.
Course notes: The Mt. Baldy Hillclimb begins at Pine and Fourth Street in Eagle Harbor and finishes at the Mt. Baldy (Lookout Mountain) peak; participants return to the base on their own. The 10 km events and the 25 km Carl Olson Memorial Adventure Run start and finish at Grant Township Park in Copper Harbor. The 10 km course includes sections named Paul's Plunge and the Point Trail and provides views along Fort Wilkins trails. The 25 km uses much of the custom singletrack on Brockway Mountain plus classic trails below the Keweenaw Mountain Lodge.
Support and awards: Mt. Baldy is self supported and carrying water is recommended. Aid stations are provided on the Copper Harbor Trails Challenge and the Carl Olson Adventure Run. Age group awards, door prizes, and multiple weekend awards are offered, including overall weekend placements, under 23 awards, a closest to average time award, and a longest total time award.
