Event location and course
The Back 9 Endurance Run takes place on May 23, 2026 at the Keweenaw Mountain Lodge in Copper Harbor, MI (14252 US Hwy 41). The event uses a 3.68 mile loop that combines wooded trails, the Back 9 Trails, and paths across the lodge's historic golf course. The course passes views of Brockway Mountain and Lake Superior and lies inside the Keweenaw Dark Sky Park. Registration closes Fri, May 22.
Format and key rules
The event offers 12-hour and 24-hour formats with options for solo runners and teams of two or four. Teams must have only one runner on the course at a time and must begin a new lap at least once each hour. Solo runners must begin a new loop at least once every two hours. Pacers are allowed for 24-hour participants and may begin pacing at dark through the finish of the race. No partial laps are counted; final results use the last completed lap. Runners record their own lap times on a timing board. Littering on the course is prohibited. Runners are responsible for their own shelter, clothing, food, hydration, and outdoor survival; required gear includes a headlamp with extra batteries, rain gear, extra socks, warm outer layer, hats, and gloves. Race officials may cancel the event for extreme weather and may evaluate a runner’s condition for safety. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
