Run the Green
Run the Green is an annual running event held in Kent, Washington. The race features flat out-and-back courses along the Green River Trail, providing views of the river and a nearby golf course. The event takes place on land historically inhabited by the Coast Salish, Duwamish, Stillaguamish, Muckleshoot, and Suquamish tribes.
The event offers two main distances:
- Half Marathon
- 10 km
The courses start and end at Three Friends Fishing Hole. The half marathon follows the Green River and includes a small loop at the halfway mark for the turnaround. The 10 km participants follow the same path, with a turnaround located just past the first aid station. Restrooms are available at the start and finish area as well as at specific locations along the route. Aid stations are positioned every 2 to 3 miles and provide water, electrolyte drinks, and energy gels.
This event operates as a cupless race to reduce waste. Participants are encouraged to bring their own hydration systems, such as handheld bottles or vests, though small reusable cups may be provided. A free gear check is available at the start, but participants must provide their own bags for storage.
All participants receive a commemorative shirt, a finisher medal, free digital photo downloads, and post-race snacks. Overall awards are presented to the top three male, female, and non-binary finishers based on gun time. Age group awards are also available in five-year increments. Walkers, strollers, and dogs on short leashes are permitted to participate. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
