Event Overview
Run the 509 is a community running event hosted by 509 Wellness. It will take place in Deer Park, Washington.
Distances
The event offers four distances:
- Half marathon
- 10K
- 5K
- Toddler Trot (an untimed event for young children, approximately six blocks long; all participants must be accompanied by a parent or guardian)
Course Details
All races start at the WAFd Bank parking lot at 16 N Main St in Deer Park. The course is an out-and-back route that goes through local neighborhoods, a golf course, and more rural landscapes. It uses a mix of roads and sidewalks. The event is described as a fast and flat road race with minimal elevation gain.
The race uses open roads. Flaggers will be present, but participants must watch for traffic and obey road rules.
Schedule and Amenities
The half marathon starts at 8:00 AM, the 10K at 8:15 AM, and the 5K at 8:30 AM. The Toddler Trot begins at 11:00 AM. All race-day activities conclude at 12:00 PM (noon).
Race-day parking is available in a large dirt lot along Railroad Avenue and in street parking near the WAFd Bank.
All finishers receive a medal. Prizes are awarded to the top three male and female finishers in the 5K, 10K, and half marathon. Age group prizes are also available.
A participant t-shirt is included with registration. To guarantee a shirt, registration must be completed by May 13. A limited number of extra shirts may be available for late registrants at the finish line post-race.
Food and drinks will be available for purchase from the 509 DINE food truck and various local downtown businesses.
Aid Stations
Aid station details vary by distance:
- The 5K has one aid station with water and minimal first aid, plus two public restrooms on the course.
- The 10K includes the 5K station plus one additional aid station with an outhouse, water, first aid, and Hammer Gel nutrition.
- The half marathon includes the 5K and 10K stations plus one further additional aid station with an outhouse, water, first aid, and Hammer Gel nutrition.
Because the course is out-and-back, participants may pass some stations twice.
