Event overview
Run Rabbit Run is an annual trail running event in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. The 2026 edition is scheduled for September 18-19 and includes organized 100-mile and 50-mile events with separate 100-mile categories for Hares and Tortoises. The 100-mile race is limited to 450 entrants and the 50-mile race is limited to 200 entrants. The event operates with a special use permit on the Routt National Forest.

Course and community support
Both courses run on trails in the Routt National Forest and include high-elevation sections such as Emerald Mountain, Buffalo Pass, Mount Werner, and Rabbit Ears Mountain. The 50-mile course gains nearly 9,000 feet of elevation. The 100-mile course gains approximately 22,000 feet of elevation and crosses the Continental Divide. The 50-mile description notes starting near the Steamboat Springs ski area at about 6,900 feet and climbing to peaks above 10,500 feet.
The event is also a charity race. Since 2012 it has donated almost $700,000 to nonprofit organizations, and in 2025 it donated over $82,000 to 20 northern Colorado charities. A team challenge is part of the event program. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
