Run Rabbit Run stages mountain ultramarathon courses in the Routt National Forest around Steamboat Springs. Distances offered include:
- 100 Mile Hares
- 100 Mile Tortoises
- 50 Miler
Both the 50 mile and 100 mile courses begin at the base of the Steamboat Springs ski area, located at about 6,900 feet elevation. The routes traverse local peaks and passes including Mount Werner, Buffalo Pass, Emerald Mountain, and Rabbit Ears Mountain, and cross the Continental Divide. The 100 mile route also passes through parts of town.
The 50 mile course accumulates nearly 9,000 feet of climbing. The 100 mile course accumulates approximately 22,000 feet of climbing. The courses include repeated ascents and descents across mountain terrain and fall-color forest.
The 100 mile race carries a total prize purse of $75,000 with a guaranteed $15,000 to the winners. A Team Challenge offers $5,000 to the winning team.
