Run Rabbit Run 2026
Run Rabbit Run is a pair of trail ultramarathons held in Steamboat Springs, Colorado on September 18 and 19, 2026. The races begin at the base of the Steamboat Springs ski area and use trails that include Buffalo Pass, Emerald Mountain, Mount Werner, and Rabbit Ears Mountain, crossing the Continental Divide and returning to the ski area.
The event offers two distances:
- 100 mile limited to 450 entrants
- 50 mile limited to 200 entrants
The 100 mile race is organized with two start groups and has 30 hour and 36 hour cutoff options; there is an optional early start for eligible older competitors that provides extra time. The 50 mile race has a 15 hour cutoff and also offers an early start option for eligible older competitors. The course is on public lands under a special use permit on the Routt National Forest.
The 2026 purse totals $100,000 overall, including $20,000 awards for the men’s and women’s winners. The event is organized as a charity race; since 2007 it has donated over $700,000 to nonprofit organizations and in 2025 donated over $82,000 to 20 northern Colorado charities. Registration for the 2026 races is full and a waitlist is maintained. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
