Distances
The Continental Divide Trail Run offers three distances:
- 50k with a 9-hour cutoff
- 16 mile with a 7-hour cutoff
- 5 mile
Date and Location
The event takes place on Saturday, August 29th, 2026. It starts and ends on the Torian Plum Lawn in front of Slopeside Grill in Steamboat Springs.
Course Details
The 50k course is approximately 29.5 miles, starting at 7,000 feet and climbing to over 10,400 feet. The 16 mile course is just under 16 miles, starting at 7,000 feet and climbing to over 10,350 feet. The 5 mile course has an elevation difference of just over 1,000 feet.
Aid stations are provided for the 50k and 16 mile courses, but there are no aid stations on the 5 mile course. This is a cupless race; participants must bring their own hydration devices as no cups are available at aid stations.
Registration
Registration is available through UltraSignup or in person at packet pickup. Fees vary by distance and increase after specific dates. There is no registration on race day. Packet pickup occurs on Friday before the race and on race day morning.
Awards and Post-Race
Awards are given for the top three male and female finishers. Age group awards are available for the 50k and 16 mile races. Finishers of the 50k and 16 mile receive mugs. A post-race taco bar is provided for registered participants by Los Locos.
Additional Information
Leashed dogs are welcome on the 5 mile course only. Proceeds from the race are donated to the Trail Maintenance Endowment Fund. Parking options include free and paid locations near the start/finish area. Crewing is only permitted at the Rainbow Saddle Aid Station, accessible by foot, bike, or gondola.
