Continental Divide Trail Run
The Continental Divide Trail Run is a trail race organized by the Steamboat Springs Running Series on the Routt National Forest. Proceeds are donated to the Trail Maintenance Endowment Fund. The race starts and finishes on the Torian Plum Lawn in front of Slopeside Grill. The event date is Saturday, August 29, 2026.
Distances:
- 50k with a 9 hour cutoff
- 16 mile with a 7 hour cutoff
- 5 mile
The 50k course is just over 29.5 miles, begins and ends at about 7,000 ft, and climbs to over 10,400 ft. The 16 mile course is just under 16 miles, starts and finishes near 7,000 ft, and climbs to over 10,350 ft. The 5 mile course is just under 5 miles and has an elevation difference of just over 1,000 ft to the turnaround.
Aid stations for the 50k and 16 mile courses include Rainbow Saddle, Mt. Werner Summit, Long Lake, and Mt. Werner; the 5 mile course has no aid stations. This is a cupless race: there will be no cups at aid stations, so participants should carry a hydration device or collapsible cup. Water, Tailwind, and typical race food will be available at aid stations. Leashed dogs are allowed only on the 5 mile course.
Packet pickup is available prior to race day and on race day; there is no registration on race day. Entry limits apply for some distances. Crewing access is limited to the Rainbow Saddle Aid Station by foot, bike, or gondola; there is no vehicle access to the course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
