About the race
The Continental Divide Trail Run is a group of trail races held in Steamboat Springs, CO, beginning and ending at the Steamboat Ski Area. The event offers multiple distances and runs through aspen and pine forests with views of the Yampa Valley.
Distances:
- 50K course continuing to Long Lake, with much of the distance at or above 10,000 ft.
- 16 mile course with over 3,500 ft of elevation gain and a high point at 10,420 ft.
- 5 mile course that climbs from the base to the Creekside Trail covering over 1,000 ft in the first 2.5 miles.
Most of the climbing for the 16 mile and 50K courses occurs in the first 7.5 miles. Rough estimates give the 50K about 5,500 ft of elevation gain. The 16 mile and 50K both include sustained uphill sections and high-elevation terrain. The Steamboat Running Series organizes the event and provides maps and elevation profiles for the courses.
