Event

The Continental Divide Trail Run takes place Saturday, August 29, 2026, in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. The race starts and finishes on the Torian Plum Lawn in front of Slopeside Grill. Proceeds from the event are donated to the Trail Maintenance Endowment Fund. The event is cupless - there will be no cups at aid stations.

Courses and aid stations

The 50K is just over 29.5 miles, starts and finishes near 7,000 ft, and climbs above 10,400 ft. Aid stations are located at Rainbow Saddle (mile 6), Mt. Werner Summit (mile 8), Long Lake (mile 15), Mt. Werner (mile 22), Rainbow Saddle (mile 25), and the finish. Runners should carry their own hydration device; water and Tailwind will be available at aid stations. Cutoffs apply at Mt. Werner Aid Station and at the finish.

The 16 mile course is just under 16 miles, starts and finishes near 7,000 ft, and climbs above 10,350 ft. Aid stations are at Rainbow Saddle (mile 6), Mt. Werner Summit (mile 8), Rainbow Saddle (mile 11), and the finish. Runners should carry their own hydration device. Cutoffs apply at Mt. Werner Aid Station and at the finish.

The 5 mile course is just under 5 miles and has an elevation change of just over 1,000 ft from start to turnaround. There are no aid stations on the 5 mile course. Leashed dogs are allowed on the 5 mile course only.

Logistics

Packet pickup is available on the Friday before the race and on race day at the start area. There is no vehicle access to the course; crewing and support is restricted to the Rainbow Saddle Aid Station. Parking options include free parking at the Upper Knoll Lot, paid nearby garages, the Torian Plum parking garage, drop-off, or local transit. Registration closes the day before the race.
