Run Like The Wind 10K & Fun Run
Run Like The Wind is an event on Walney Island featuring a measured road race and a separate family fun run on Sunday 5 July 2026. The 10 km race uses a flat, two loop route that follows minor roads and seafront paths along the island shoreline and returns to finish on the front by the West Shore Club.
The course starts at the Round House and includes closed roads, a beach path with coastal views, the seafront toward Biggar Bank and sections past wind turbines. The route is open to the public in places; runners must keep to the left where possible, follow marshal instructions, and comply with UKA rule 240 S5 which prohibits headphones except for medical use. Dogs, buggies and wheelchair entries are not permitted. Maps will be available at the West Shore Bowling Club on the day.

- 10 km measured road race (minimum age 15)
- 1 mile fun run; under eights must be accompanied
Facilities include toilets at the West Shore Club and at the nearby football ground, changing rooms at the football club, and a bar at the West Shore Bowling Club. Parking is provided at Walney School and Park Vale plus limited street parking; a small car park is reserved for officials and first aid. Chip timing is provided and medals are awarded to 10k finishers and fun runners. Prizes are given for top finishers by gender, age categories and teams.
