Run Like HECS
Run Like HECS is organized by Halifax Early Childhood School, a non-profit preschool. The event takes place on June 6, 2026 at Point Pleasant Park, in the lower parking lot by Black Rock Beach. It raises funds to grow and maintain the school.
The program offers several race options for different ages and formats. The event runs rain or shine. The 5 km is a timed race and results are posted online, with prizes available for top finishers. Children are eligible for draw prizes. The 400 m is untimed and all participants receive a cookie medal. In the 1 km race the top three children stand on a podium to receive cookie medals.
There is an early bib pick-up the day before at the Running Room on Spring Garden Road in Halifax. Registration fees apply by distance. The event also maintains fundraising leaderboards and accepts donations to support Halifax Early Childhood School. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
