Salomon Toboggan Run

The Salomon Toboggan Run takes place on January 17, 2026 in Head of Saint Margarets Bay, Nova Scotia (15 Station Road). The event is a fundraiser for the St. Margarets Bay Food Bank and the Safety Minded ATV Association. Registration is CA$61.65 and includes draw prize eligibility, aid station food, hot chocolate and homemade cookies. A toboggan is included with entry. The event is open to participants aged 18 and over. The event page lists 54 participants. The organiser states there are no refunds or deferrals unless the participant volunteers; transfers of entries are allowed. Dogs are not permitted on the course. The venue includes an ATV clubhouse with indoor washrooms and shelter.

Course and format

The event uses a Backyard Ultra format built around repeated 5.8 km loops. Each loop must be completed within one hour to continue; the format allows up to 10 loops. If more than one runner remains on the final loop, the finish is decided by a final sprint. One lap contains approximately 150 m of ascent and descent.

The course surface is a mix of rail trail, logging road, ATV trail and single track, broken down as: 2.0 km rail trail, 1.8 km logging road, 1.0 km ATV trail and 1.0 km single track. The organiser notes the event will proceed in poor trail conditions but may be rescheduled for severe weather or unsafe road or temperature conditions. The event is cup-less; participants are asked to provide their own drinking vessel. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
