Salomon Toboggan Run : January 17, 2026, Head of Saint Margarets Bay
The event is held at 15 Station Road, Head of Saint Margarets Bay, Nova Scotia. It is a fundraiser for the St. Margarets Bay Food Bank and the Safety Minded ATV Association. Entry fee is CA$61.65 and includes draw prize eligibility, aid station food, hot chocolate and homemade cookies. A toboggan is included with registration. Participants must be at least 18 years old. The ATV clubhouse is rented for the day and provides indoor washrooms and shelter for clothing and food. Current participant count shown is 25.
Format, course and rules
The event uses a Backyard Ultra format for up to 10 loops. At the event start everyone has one hour to complete a 5.8 km loop. If a runner takes longer than one hour for a loop, that runner is finished. New loops begin each hour until the final loop; if multiple runners remain on the final lap, the finish is decided by a sprint on the bell lap. Organizers note the event will not be cancelled for poor trail conditions and advise participants to be prepared for icy trails, snow, and mud.
Course composition per lap:
- 2.0 km rail trail
- 1.8 km logging road
- 1.0 km ATV trail
- 1.0 km single track
Each lap includes about 150 m of ascent and descent. Transfers of entries are allowed. No refunds or deferrals except as noted for volunteers. No dogs are allowed on the course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
