Event overview

The Salomon Toboggan Run is scheduled for January 17, 2026 in Head of Saint Margarets Bay, Nova Scotia, at 15 Station Road. The event uses a Backyard Ultra format that allows up to 10 loops and serves as a fundraiser for the St. Margarets Bay Food Bank and the Safety Minded ATV Association. There are currently 35 participants listed.

Course and format

Each lap is a 5.8 km loop composed of 2.0 km rail trail, 1.8 km logging road, 1.0 km ATV trail, and 1.0 km single track, with about 150 m of ascent and descent per lap. Runners have one hour to complete each loop; loops repeat hourly through the day until a final bell lap in the evening. If a runner exceeds the allotted hour for a loop, that runner is finished for the day. If multiple runners remain for the final lap, the finish is decided with a sprint.

Entry, facilities and rules

Entry fee is CA$61.65, which includes draw-prize eligibility, aid station food, hot chocolate and homemade cookies. A toboggan is included with registration. Participants must be at least 18 years old. The organizers provide access to the rented ATV Clubhouse with indoor washrooms and shelter. No refunds or deferrals are allowed except in association with volunteering, transfers between participants are permitted, and dogs are not allowed on the course. Participants are asked to bring their own drinking vessel. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
