The Run Like a Hero: 4th of July 5k is a community 5-kilometre run/walk held in Chico, California on Saturday, July 4, 2026. Proceeds benefit the Chico Striders Run Strong Scholarship for graduating high school senior athletes. The event encourages participants to wear a hero costume or Independence Day attire.
Logistics and race details
Location is Sycamore Field in Bidwell Park, South Park Drive, Chico, CA 95928. Registration opens May 15, 2026 and remains available until July 3, 2026 at 11:30pm; there is no race day registration. The entry fee is listed as $32.80, which includes a $2.80 processing fee. Chico Striders and Chico Running Club members receive a $10 discount when using the designated team option.
Bibs will be issued to all entrants. Packet pick-up is scheduled at Fleet Feet on Thursday, July 3, and same-day bib pick-up is available at Sycamore Field. Race timing will be provided by Chico Running Club. Drinks and snacks are provided after the race. Parking is available at Vallombrosa Way, CARD HQ parking on Vallombrosa Ave, or Woodland Ave. Race insurance is offered through a RunSignUp partner. Sponsors include Fleet Feet.
