Event Details

The Run Like a Hero 5k is a Fourth of July-themed running and walking event taking place on July 4, 2026. The event is presented by Chico Striders and Chico Running Club. Proceeds benefit the Chico Striders Run Strong Scholarship for graduating high school senior athletes. Participants are encouraged to wear a favorite hero costume or Independence Day attire.

Race Information

The event distance is a 5k run/walk. Registration is available until 11:30 PM on July 3, and there is no registration available on the day of the race. Standard race entry costs $32.80, which includes a $2.80 fee. Members of Chico Striders or Chico Running Club receive a $10 discount on registration.

The race takes place at Sycamore Field in Bidwell Park, Chico, California. Parking is available at Vallombrosa Way, the CARD HQ parking lot on Vallombrosa Avenue, or on Woodland Avenue. Race bibs are provided to all entrants. Packet pick-up is available at Fleet Feet on July 3 between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM, or on race day at Sycamore Field starting at 7:00 AM. Timing is managed by the Chico Running Club.
