Run Jericho - St Barnabas Primary School PTA
Run Jericho is a community running event in Jericho, Oxford, organised by the St Barnabas Primary School PTA and volunteers to raise funds for the school. The event takes place on Sunday 7th June 2026 and is based at St Barnabas C of E Primary School, Hart Street, Oxford OX2 6BN.
The races loop around the local Jericho area and involve local residents as spectators. Distances offered include:
- 10K race
- 5K race
- 1-mile children's race
Since its start in 2011, Run Jericho has raised over £100,000 for school improvements. Funds have supported projects such as climbing frames for early years and Key Stage 2, community-shared playground resurfacing, Chromebook laptops, library books, sports equipment, picnic tables, an oven for after-school cooking, an art mural, and a forest school area with outdoor classroom features.
The event emphasises community volunteering and sponsorship for organisation and marshaling. It also aims to be eco conscious: organisers do not distribute goodie bags, ask participants to consider reusable bottles, and encourage arrival by foot, bike or public transport where possible. The course is checked and cleared after the event to minimise litter, with particular attention to Port Meadow. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
