DU Run Into Spring 5k
The DU Run Into Spring 5K is a community road race held at Western Colorado University in Gunnison. Organized by Delta Upsilon, the event is open to students and community members of various ability levels. The proceeds from the race benefit the organizing fraternity and a charitable cause.
The event features a single distance:
- 5 km
The 5 km course is a paved road loop that explores the Western Colorado University campus. To complete the full distance, participants run two counterclockwise laps of the established route. The race starts on Adams Street before turning right onto Georgia Avenue. The path then follows Escalante Drive around the north and east sections of the campus. Runners continue by making a left onto North Colorado Street and a final left back onto East Georgia Avenue to return to the start-finish area.
The terrain is described as primarily flat, though the route includes one main uphill and downhill section. Participants can view the university campus and the Gunnison Valley while they run or walk. Course marshals and volunteers are stationed along the route to assist with navigation, and limited traffic control is implemented at key intersections for safety.
