Event overview
The Sage Burner Trail Race is scheduled for Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Hartman Rocks Recreation Area in Gunnison, Colorado. Distances offered are:

- 28K
- 15K
Registration opens January 1, 2026, and is completed online. Registration accepts cards only and may close early if participant caps are reached.
Course and logistics
The course includes technical slickrock, smooth singletrack, and doubletrack. The route features rolling hills and short, steep climbs in a high desert climate, with 360 degree views that include the Maroon Bells, the San Juan Mountains, and the Gunnison Basin. Early packet pickup is scheduled for Friday, October 2, 2026, and race day packet pickup is available on Saturday, October 3, 2026.
All entrants receive a BOCO Gear running hat, a commemorative finisher's medal, and a Hydrapak collapsible reusable cup. Place awards are given to the top three male and female finishers in each distance. Dogs are not allowed on any race course; they may be kept at the start/finish area if controlled, kept at least 20 feet away, and leashed. A portion of proceeds will be donated to Gunnison Trails.
