Sage Burner Trail Race - October 3, 2026
Sage Burner Trail Race takes place at Hartman Rocks Recreation Area in Gunnison, Colorado. The event offers multiple trail distances through sage-covered hills near Black Canyon National Park, with broad views of the Maroon Bells, the San Juan Mountains, and the Gunnison Basin.
The course includes technical slickrock, smooth singletrack, and doubletrack sections. Terrain features rolling hills and punchy climbs in a high desert climate. The organizer publishes a race guide with information on fuel stations mileage and cutoffs, food and hydration, race rules, distance changes, refund policy, and recommended gear.

Entry fees are listed in a range between $87.50 and $163.25 USD. All participants receive a running hat by BOCO Gear, a commemorative finisher's medal, and a Hydrapak collapsible reusable speed cup. The event partners with Hydrapak Sustainable Racing Program to reduce race day waste, and supports local trail work by donating a portion of proceeds to Gunnison Trails. Programs associated with the event include the Youth Trail Running Initiative for athletes aged 14 to 19 and Trail Sisters to increase womxn participation in trail running.
