Sage Burner Trail Race
Sage Burner Trail Race is held in the Hartman Rocks Recreation Area near Gunnison, Colorado, set among sage brush and views of the Maroon Bells, the San Juan Mountains, and the Gunnison Basin. The setting is in the Rocky Mountains, about two hours east of Grand Junction and three hours west of Denver.
The courses include sections of technical slickrock, smooth singletrack, and doubletrack. The terrain features rolling hills and punchy climbs paired with a high desert climate, which affects footing and pacing. The organizer provides a race guide with details on fuel station mileage and cutoffs, food and hydration, race rules, distance changes, refund policy, and recommended gear.
A portion of event proceeds will be donated to Gunnison Trails, a local trail building and maintenance organization. The event partners with programs aimed at increasing participation in trail running for 14 to 19 year old athletes and for womxn. A 15% registration discount is offered; details are available from the organizer.
All participants receive a Sage Burner Trail Race running hat by BOCO Gear, a commemorative finisher's medal, and a Hydrapak collapsible reusable speed cup.
