Sage Burner Trail Race
The Sage Burner Trail Race takes place in the Hartman Rocks Recreation Area near Gunnison, Colorado. The event offers three distances:
- 50K
- 28K
- 15K
The course includes sections of technical slickrock, smooth singletrack, and doubletrack. Runners encounter rolling hills and punchy climbs within a high desert climate. The race area provides wide views of the Maroon Bells, the San Juan Mountains, and the Gunnison Basin.
A race guide lists fuel station mileage and cutoffs, food and hydration plans, race rules, distance changes, refund policy, and recommended gear. Entry fees are listed in a range from $87.50 to $163.25 (USD) with multiple offering tiers available.
All participants receive a running hat from BOCO Gear, a commemorative finisher's medal, and a Hydrapak collapsible reusable speed cup. The event partners with the Hydrapak Sustainable Racing Program to reduce race day waste. Organizers also note partnerships with the Youth Trail Running Initiative to support athletes aged 14 to 19 and with Trail Sisters to increase womxn participation. A portion of proceeds will be donated to Gunnison Trails, an organization that builds and maintains local trails. A 15 percent registration discount is available through the organizer.
