Event overview
Sage Burner Trail Race is held in the Hartman Rocks Recreation Area in Gunnison, Colorado, near Black Canyon National Park. The course includes technical slickrock, smooth singletrack, and doubletrack. The terrain has rolling hills and short, steep climbs set in a high desert climate. The venue provides 360 degree views of the Maroon Bells, the San Juan Mountains, and the Gunnison Basin.

Logistics and race services
Registration is completed online and accepts cards only; registration may close early if participant caps are met. Early packet pickup is scheduled for Friday, 10/2/2026, at Hartman Rocks Recreation Area parking lot on Gold Basin Road. Race day packet pickup is scheduled for Saturday, 10/3/2026, at the same location. Event parking is available near the base area for Hartman Rocks; parking opens on race day at 6:45 am.
Dogs are not allowed on any race course; dogs may be at the start/finish area if leashed, controlled, and kept at least 20 feet from the start/finish line. Place awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers of each run. All participants receive a BOCO Gear running trucker hat, a commemorative finisher's medal, and a Hydrapak collapsible reusable cup. A portion of proceeds will be donated to Gunnison Trails.
