Run in the Sun is a community event featuring a 5K run and a 2K walk held at Statesmen Community Stadium in Oskaloosa on August 1, 2026. Early packet pickup is available the day before at Hospice Serenity House.
The event includes a pre race ceremony, a finish festival, a Free Kids Fun Run, and family activities. Medals are awarded to the top male and female 5K finishers in each of eight age categories. Participants may form or join teams through the event registration system.
Practical details provided by organizers include parking south of the stadium with entry through the south gates. Race numbers and disposable timing chips are used; race numbers should be worn on the front of the body and timing chips are specific to each participant. Distance changes must be reported to the timing booth before the race start.
The event is organized to raise funds for the Mahaska Health Foundation and Hospice Serenity House. Proceeds support Serenity House services and Mahaska Health Foundation programs. The event is planned to run rain or shine; organizers reserve the right to delay, postpone, or cancel for participant safety. Registrations are nonrefundable.
